How strong are the wires?
Each wire in a good invisible grill is high-tensile stainless steel. The wire we use is rated at 350 kg and above per wire, and a typical balcony has many wires sharing any load. The strength comes from the steel, the tension and the track, not from the thickness you see.
Can a child squeeze through?
The gap between wires is the most important choice for families. A closer gap leaves no space for a small child or a pet to slip through. We decide the gap with you at the site visit, based on who lives in the home.
Can children climb it?
Traditional box grills have horizontal bars that work like a ladder. Invisible grill wires are thin and smooth, so there is very little to grip or step on. It is still wise to keep furniture, stools and plant boxes away from the balcony edge, with any type of grill.
What about pets?
Cats and small dogs are curious and quick. A close wire gap and a full-height installation from railing to ceiling stop them from jumping out or slipping through. The nylon coating is smooth, so it will not hurt paws.
Safety checklist before you install
- Cover the full opening, top to bottom, not just above the railing.
- Choose a closer wire gap if you have toddlers or pets.
- Ask for the steel grade (SS 316 is best) and tensile strength.
- Make sure the track is fixed into solid wall, not just plaster.
- Check the wires are tight after installation, with no sagging.

Is it safe in an emergency?
Because invisible grills can be installed as removable, and the wires can be cut by emergency services if needed, they are generally easier to get through in an emergency than a welded box grill.
